History of baton twirling.

Baton twirling originated in Eastern Europe and Asia. Before there was a baton, the armies had to twirl with their rifles while marching. Then the mace or "drum major stick" was created. The drum major would twirl it, toss it and do tricks. Over the course of the years the baton was created It was smaller than a mace and had two rubber ends. The sport baton twirling reached North America when Major Millsap established it at Millsap's College in Mississippi.
